How do I apply for housing?
One you have been accepted by the University for admission and paid the admission fee, you will be sent a housing packet which includes the housing contract. These packets are generally available from the printers around the first of the year so, if you paid your admission fee prior to January, you will receive the packet as soon as they are available. Fully complete the housing and meal contract, sign it and return to the Residence Life Office with the $125 reservation fee. We recommend you apply by June 1. Room assignments are made on a first-come, first-serve basis.
How are room assignments made?
Each spring the students living in the halls have a chance to sign up for a room for the following academic year. For this reason, it is not always possible to assign new and transfer students to their listed preferences. We do make every attempt to honor those preferences that are available. Spaces are given to new and transfer students based on the date we receive the $125 reservation fee and contract, mutual roommate requests, and hall preferences. The sooner you return the contract with the $125 fee, the better chance you have of getting your preferences met.
When will I receive my room and roommate assignment?
Generally room assignment letters are mailed in July. The room assignment letter includes your UWS Mailbox, your room phone number, your roommate's name, address, home phone and email address, if available. It also gives you check-in dates and times.
How are roommates assigned?
Roommate assignments are based on the information you provide on the contract, if possible, and are made based on roommate preferences (if you have a roommate preference, list that person on your contract and send in the contracts together-roommate preferences must be mutual) and hall preference, if available. We do not make assignments based on race, color, religion, sexual preference or national origin.
Can I request a friend as my roommate?
Yes, as long as both of you list the other's name on your housing contract and mail them together or within a week of one another.
Are single rooms available?
Since the demand for single rooms is high, we cannot guarantee a single room to new students. There are more single rooms available in Ross Hall than any other hall and we try to honor those requests until space becomes limited.
When can I move into the halls?
The residence halls open in the FALL for students to move in the day before Freshman Orientation begins. For SPRING semester, new and transfer students can move in the Sunday before classes begin. You go directly to the front desk of the hall to which you have been assigned. Dates and times are included in your room assignment letter.
What about changing rooms?
Room changes are difficult to make once an assignment has been made due to lack of available space. Room changes are not allowed the first three weeks of the semester. There is a $25 charge for room changes. (Exceptions are moves due to consolidation directed from the Residence Life Office). See your Hall Director about possible room changes.

Are there computers located in the halls I can use?
